Liberty Baptist Purchases Church
On August 28th 2009 Liberty Baptist purchased a church that will meet the needs of the fast growing church. 9 N. 5th Ave in Marshalltown is the address of the new location. The church was owned by First United Methodist Church and was previously the Grace United Methodist Church. Because Liberty Baptist is a church that walks by faith not by sight the church prayed in enough money to purchase the new facility on August 28 with cash. God is faithful! We hope to be using the facility by October 1, 2009 and will be having an open house potluck on October 18, 2009.

Looking at Options for Facilities
As the ministry at Liberty Baptist grows so does the need for larger and more permanent facilities. With full classrooms bulging at the seams and having to utilize pastor Randy's office and the kitchen as classrooms we have come to realize that even though we have 7 acres of land bought and paid for, unless God provides 1 - 3 million dollars we have no way of building a new facility at this point. We have faith that in God's timing He will provide for a facility at that location. Until then, our options are to go to the next step of faith and either purchase the building where we are already residing for 550,000 and add on classroom space and repair the building which is in dier need of maintenance, or we have recently been looking at a church that is for sale on the corner of 5th Ave. and State St. We got to tour the church as the trustees of the church had an open house for us today June 20, 2009 from 1 - 4. Pastor Randy said "What we need to look at is two things: Does it meet the requirements of our mission statement? Does it make sense structurally and financially?" This is what we at Liberty will be praying to God about and asking for wisdom and guidance. One thing is for sure....Liberty Baptist is a church that walks by faith instead of sight. We have always believed that God is able to do exceedingly above all that we think or ask Him and He has. Won't you join us in prayer and ask God to give us guidance and wisdom to make the decision that is according to His will?

Oktemberfest Parade
Liberty Baptist was in the Oktemberfest Parade for the first time this year! The bus and wiggle worm (train) was entered into the parade and a fun time was had by all! Look at the photo album to see more pictures of the bus and the wiggle worm train that was donated to the church by Mac Thornes.

Our Bus Goes from Blah to Ablaze!
In August of 2008 Gary White, member of Liberty Baptist church generously presented Liberty Baptist with a newly painted bus with the theme "Faith Ablaze". Gary has been painting flames on mailboxes and donating them to Marshalltown Street Rods for years. Prior to painting the bus, he worked diligently making a mailbox to donate to the church and after a few tries and one of the mailboxes getting hit during the snow, he painted and put up a new shiny black mailbox with flames so realistic you might be tempted to try to put them out! Then for months he sanded, worked and repainted the once red and white rusty bus into a bus that turns heads and brings people to and from church and changes people's hearts. The bus is painted white, bright yellow, orange-red and has professionaly painted flames on the front and sides. What an exciting day when those who wanted to, went up the steps of the bus and rode through town. What excitement filled the air as we traveled the streets of Marshalltown. The bus has a great paint job that could grace the cover of any street rod magazine out there any day, but this bus means so much more than a fancy paint job! This bus represents what the heart and desire of Liberty Baptist is all about. The flames on the mail box and bus are representative of the theme of Liberty Baptist, "Faith Ablaze". Faith comes by hearing and by hearing of the Word of God. God's Word is preached at Liberty Baptist. The mission of Liberty Baptist is reach Marshalltown and surrounding communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have expanded our outreach by having a presence on the internet to include reaching all parts of the world through proactive evangelization and to mentor others to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. At Liberty we have been learning how to be Conquerors for Christ, how to have Faith Ablaze, what it means to walk the Roman Road and how to Live the Mind of Christ and bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and hurting world. Pastor Randy Mason has a heart for God and realizes that all people need the Lord. Because of the growing Hispanic population in Marshalltown there is an emphasis at Liberty to reach this population with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Israel Paola is the Hispanic Minister and is bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to many who might otherwise not have known Christ. All cultures, race and age are welcome at Liberty Baptist. We are thankful to have a bus that turns heads but Liberty Baptist is more concerned about a person's heart!

David Ring Service a Success!
On Monday evening June 30, 2008 David Ring spoke at the Marshalltown High School Auditorium. There were probably around 500 people in attendance. Journeybound Gospel group and the Liberty Baptist Musicians sang and played music. For the first time ever Josh, Carolyn and Dolores were able to play the piano at the same time. We brought our piano from Liberty and there were two pianos already there! Many lives will never be the same as a result of hearing David Ring's testimony and motivational speech. We give God all the glory. Great things He has done!

Praise God for Providing a Hispanic Pastor
After much prayer God has provided Liberty Baptist with a Hispanic Pastor. Israel Becerra and his wife Paolo will be coming at the end of May to continue with the Hispanic ministry that Randy had started. God continues to bless the ministry at Liberty Baptist. What a historic moment for this ministry! We praise the Lord for how He has answered our prayers and provided for the needs of the ministry as always in His timing.

We Now Have Colored Bulletins
March 9th was the last bulletin that was made with black ink. We now have colored bulletins. Check out our bulletin page! After all the amazing things that God had provided for Liberty Baptist I decided to make the bulletins using colored ink. The grey bulletins with black ink just seemed so drab and with all the wonderful things that were happening at Liberty I just felt like we needed to upgrade our bulletins too! It was a challenge to make the bulletins with a new software program and added to the time it took my husband Frank and I to print them for the church but we now have learned some dos and don'ts and are happy with the new change!

Live Audio Streaming
Liberty Baptist was able to start having Randy's sermons live on the internet and I archive each sermon so it is available for people to hear anytime day or night. There is a Christian company on the internet Netbroadcast.tv that provides free live audio for churches. All we need to do in exchange is to have a link on our website to promote where we get our live streaming and if we ever decide to do live video we would use this company for our live video streaming. Liberty Baptist has unlimited use of file space to keep all of Randy's sermons. I hope that in reading this there will be other churches that can benefit from this company and spread the Word of God. God has blessed Liberty Baptist so much. Praise God for His many blessings.

New Website
What an exciting step for Liberty Baptist to have a new web site where the ministry can reach the world for Christ using the technology available as far and wide reaching as the Internet. Many hours were spent in putting this web site together. First of all we want to thank Kimberlee for her hard work with the first web site Liberty Baptist had and for forwarding the other website address to automatically go to this new web site. Thanks to Elaine who did and redid the calendar and the prayer list as we realized "wait a minute...this is the Internet" and all of a sudden what was once our church calendar and prayer list handed out on paper was now there for all eyes to see. We decided to be more conservative and not put names on the website to give people privacy. So that meant taking all the birthdays and anniversaries off the calendar and redoing the prayer list. I put many hours into setting up the pages as pastor Randy and I went over what to add or delete. As the months have gone by I continued to add pages as I had time and as I was able to add graphics. I continue to update the website as Randy writes new commentaries, I write new devotionals, as I make the new bulletin each Sunday, and as the Pastor has me add his sermons etc. I will continue to add to the website and appreciate the excellent job that David from Shepherdsland webhosting did to make the custom website template using the logo that I put together with Randy's help of course.
