Missions Trip to Central America Church Dedication

In September 2006 Liberty Baptist voted to send $12,000 to Wiwili, Nicaragua to build a church for a group of believers who were in need of a place to meet. This church is named after our church, the Liberty Baptist Church.  Iglesia Bautista Liberta Mision Buen Samaritano

In  2007 we had the opportunity to travel to Nicaragua to dedicate this church. The people from Liberty Baptist church in Marshalltown, Iowa who went to the dedication of our church were Pastor Randy Mason, his wife Maureen, daughter Melissa and son Michael, Rex Gunderson, Jan Snyder, Clay Snyder and Rhea Williams.

OUR TRIP

The group left on Sunday May 27, 2007. We stayed the night at Kansas City, Mo.

Mon. the 28th we flew to Houston, TX--Lay over for the night.

Tues. the 29th we flew into Tegucigalpa, the Capital of Honduras, where we met our guide, Lidia. Then we drove to the Radio Station that is owned by the Good Samaritan Baptist Mission, where Pastor Randy and Rex and all sang on the radio. Pastor Randy also deliverd the message in Spanish on how we all came to Honduras.

Then we drove 2 1/2 hours to San Marcos de Colon, Honduras where we stayed at the Good Samaritan Baptist Mission. This mission was founded by the Tyson family.

Wed. the 30th we headed for our Church in Wiwili, Nicaragua. We went in SUV's for 4 hours by roads. We picked up another minister in a small town in Nicaragua. Then we took a river boat across the river. We walked up to an old, open ended Army truck and climbed in and it took us for another 2 hours on roads that most of us would not walk on.

It started to rain but to our amazement it looked like a hundred people waited for us to get there at Wiwili Church for the dedication of their Church. The dedication was done by Pastor Randy, Pastor Hector of the Church and the Interpreter, Lidia. People walked miles to get to the Church and stayed all day long. We enjoyed ourselves for 1 hour then took the long trip back.

We stopped at the Minister's town to eat and then to the mission arriving around midnight.

Thurs. the 31st we visited the elementary, middle school and high schools in San Marcos de Colon. We visited the Bible Institute and they put a program on for us. We visited 2 Churches and helped serve lunches to the kids. One of the Ministers is the Hispanic Pastor we are praying to lead our Hispanic Ministry here at Liberty. We visited a Senior Citizen Center. We met with the 2 children we sponsor and gave them toys, clothes etc. that we brought along with us. We stayed at the mission for the night.

Fri. June 1st we headed to Tegucigalpa, Honduras to get on the plane to Houston. Fueled in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and when we got to Houston, we missed our flight to Kansas City, so we laid over in Houston.

Sat. June 2nd we flew to Kansas City, got our vehicle and arrived home safely.
